First the salt is dried in giant clams...

The need for salt provides a steady income for the islands women. It is an easy process, though pretty time consuming: seawater is filled into these giant clams, then the sun dries the water out and the leftover salt is scraped together, all together it takes a while until they can sell it at the weekly market.
